Founder & Headquarters
Black tea originated in Tongmu Village, Fujian Province, China. In 1568, the ancestors of the Jiang family of Zheng Shan Tang created Lapsang Souchong (Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong), which is honored as the originator of black tea worldwide.
Jiang Yuanxun, the 24th-generation inheritor, is the founder of Zheng Shan Tang Tea Company.
Our headquarters is located in Tongmu Village, within the core area of the Wuyi Mountains National Nature Reserve, the birthplace of Lapsang Souchong (Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong). The Wuyi Mountains were later recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, inscribed for both their outstanding natural landscapes and cultural significance, including the ancient tea traditions.

Zheng Shan Tang was among the first in the industry to obtain internationally recognized organic certifications, including the USDA National Organic Program, Japan Agricultural Standard, and EU BCS Organic Certification.
Since 2010, Zheng Shan Tang has extended its proprietary Junmei craftsmanship to premium ecological tea-producing regions across China, creating the Junmei Chinese Black Tea system and contributing to the standardization and high-quality development of Chinese black tea.
As the only enterprise involved in drafting multiple tea industry standards in China, Zheng Shan Tang has established important benchmarks for the industry.
